Easy Clean-up For Kids' Crafts
When it comes to doing crafts with your children you cannot escape the mess. Most projects practically require a mess and kids love to make them. Don’t let messes deter you from doing projects with your children, though. There are plenty of ways to keep the mess under control and make clean up quick and easy once you are done.
Be proactive during the project about keeping clean. This doesn’t mean you can’t let your children make a mess, forbidding any mess making takes some of the fun out of doing craft projects. It just means doing a bit of cleaning when it starts to get out of control. Keep some soapy water nearby for messy hands. A bucket will let your kids dip their hands fast and get back to crafting. If a major spill happens try to clean up the worst quickly so you don’t have a drying sticky mess at the end.
One of the best things you can do is lay down newspapers or a drop cloth for the kids to work on. This way when they’re done you don’t have to scrub floors and counters. It also means they don’t have to worry about making a mess. Newspaper can just be thrown away afterward. Or you can have a designated cloth or tarp that you put down whenever it is craft time. That way you always have something on hand, and you don’t have to throw away a lot of paper every time.
Get your child to help with clean up. This way it’s less work for you, and they are learning some responsibility at the same time. This is especially easy when they can help fold up the drop cloth or throw away the newspaper. Let them help with rinsing paint brushes and stowing things back in cabinets as well.
